Pilgrim Documentaries Receive Two Realscreen Award Nominations!

Pilgrim Media Group productions High on the Hog and Giving Voice both received nominations!

The 2022 Realscreen Awards nominations have been announced and we are delighted to share that two of Pilgrim’s documentary productions have been recognized in a field of incredible content.

High on the Hog: How African American Cuisine Transformed America received a nomination for Lifestyle — Docureality-style Food Program. Based on the book by Jessica B. Harris and hosted by Stephen Satterfield, the four-episode Netflix docuseries took viewers from Africa to the American South, exploring how Black chefs, historians and activists are keeping centuries-old culinary traditions alive.

In addition, Giving Voice has been nominated for Non-fiction — Arts & Culture Program. This uplifting feature directed by James D. Stern and Fernando Villena follows the inspiring students who flock every year to the August Wilson Monologue Competition for a chance to perform on Broadway. Through mastering the words and characters of the playwright, these students bring a voice to a brand new generation.

Both productions are streamable on Netflix now.

We thank Realscreen for their inclusion of these wonderful productions and are proud to share the limelight with some of the greatest content of the year.
