After taking the SXSW Film Festival by storm, the Pilgrim and Youtube Originals hit documentary, The Boy Band Con: The Lou Pearlman Story is heading to LA and New York theaters for a limited run this week. But before it does, reviews for the film are trickling in and critics can’t get enough!
Michael Rechshaffen of the Los Angeles Times called the film “compelling” and says it tells “a troublingly recognizable story that shares some darker, predatory undertones with HBO’s recent Michael Jackson documentary, ‘Leaving Neverland.'”
The film, which chronicles the dark, untold story of the predatory producer behind the biggest boy bands of the 1990’s including The Backstreet Boys and N’SYNC, is headed to LA screens at the Sherman Oaks Arclight on March 27th as well as to New York at the AMC 34th St 14 on March 29th. Tickets for both theaters are on sale now!
