When it comes to acting everyone has to start somewhere, even masters of the trade like Denzel Washington and Viola Davis. In Pilgrim’s new documentary feature, Giving Voice, they help lift up new voices trying to make it in the world of acting. The film, directed by James D. Stern and Fernando Villena, follows a group of young, upcoming actors competing in the 2018 August Wilson Monologue Competition, an opportunity for minority youth to break into theater.
