This week for the Pilgrim of the Week, we’re spotlighting the HR department. They help us hire the best people to work at Pilgrim Studios! From the hiring of new employees to organizing events and Pilgrim Postings, the HR department keep us updated and informed of company policies, fun community events including our monthly Lunch & Learns and so much more. Sarah Nelson, HR Coordinator, tells us what she does at Pilgrim and some of her favorite projects she’s worked on:
What do you do at Pilgrim?
I am the Human Resources Coordinator here at Pilgrim. I act as the first line of defense for the department, directing employees around the department and assisting them with day-to-day inquires. I do a lot of resume browsing and interview scheduling. I also meet with new hires and introduce them to the company. Oh, and I am the keeper of the keycards.
What’s the coolest project you’ve worked on?
Pilgrim Pie Day, without a doubt. The company throws an annual event to celebrate Thanksgiving; essentially it is a giant pie-baking contest. The best part is being a taste tester and I volunteer every year.
What’s the best thing that happened to you this week, either at work or outside of it?
I bought myself a new Kitchen Aid mixer and I have been making a lot of cookies, like a lot. I usually bring them to work to share.
Fill in the blank: If you really knew me, you’d know_____.
If you really knew me, you’d know that I won’t eat foods that are dyed blue, I want to adopt almost every dog I see, and that I was voted worst driver in high school. I have since improved my driving skills and am actually a pretty good driver.
Who do you nominate for Pilgrim feature and why?
I nominate Alex Korhely-Day. She is a great employee, entirely entertaining, and one of my favorite people. She also spent part of last year snorkeling in San Diego living her best life.
