Pilgrim of the Week: Wesley Caldwell, Assistant Editor

Pilgrim of the Week: Wesley Caldwell, Assistant Editor

New week, new Pilgrim of the Week! Today we’re featuring Wesley Caldwell. As an Assistant Editor, Wesley spends his time working on digital shows including the after-show Kings of Conversation, upcoming documentaries and more. Learn more about Wesley’s digital projects, his role at Pilgrim and the best thing that happened to him this week:

What do you do at Pilgrim?

I am the assistant editor for 1620 Media, Pilgrim’s digital department.

What’s the coolest project you’ve worked on?

Back when I was a PA, I pitched a digital series called Losing It to 1620 Media. It got green lit. They actually let me write and direct it, which is pretty crazy. Also working on our live show, Kings of Conversation, for Comic-Con HQ was pretty amazing. It was a rush doing live TV.

What’s the best thing that happened to you this week, either at work or outside of it?

We are currently working on an exciting documentary about cult film, centered on the 1987 film The Monster Squad, which was a childhood favorite of mine. This past week we flew to Orlando, FL to film Spooky Empire, a horror convention. We got some really amazing stuff there, including some celebrity interviews. We also met some really cool super fans. The whole thing was so surreal, exciting, amazing and exhausting. I feel like I was hit by a train but it was one of the best weekends of my life honestly.

Fill in the blank: If you really knew me, you’d know_____.

If you really knew me, you’d know I live and breathe for movies. There is really nothing else I’d rather be doing or seeing. I recently finished a short film that I financed via Kickstarter (and my own dwindling bank account) called The Sick and we had a really cool premiere at the Vista in Los Feliz. And when I’m not making stuff, I’m always seeing stuff. I can be frequently found at the New Beverly, the Egyptian or Cinefamily watching old movies.

Who do you nominate for Pilgrim feature and why?

I nominate Shane Patterson because he unironically shares my love for professional wrestling.
